Happy and Healthy 2012 Giveaway!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Ok... my first contest!  A great start to a great year!

I am so happy to be able to share some great prizes from some of my favorite companies!  This is almost like a mini-version of Oprah's Favorite Things... well, very mini as I won't be giving away any cars, and I don't expect any of you reading this to burst out into tears of overwhelming happiness... BUT I am happy to be able to share some of my favorite things from 2011!

As you know, I am a big fan of Invisible Shoes and their awesome minimalist huaraches.  They were my first minimalist shoe, and my running vehicle of choice!  So, I'll be sharing the love with a lucky winner who will be sporting a custom-made pair of 4mm Connects, or 6mm Contacts courtesy of Steven Sashen and our friends at Invisibleshoe.com

Also, I was recently fortunate enough to win a gift certificate to Road ID from my friend and fellow blogger,  The Barefoot Chiropractor.  This is a great running product! I used to take my drivers license with me for ID purposes, or my cell phone, only to forget them in the car, or in my shorts etc.  My Road ID wrist band has all critical contact info, is comfortable, is reflective, and looks great!  My wife worries less knowing important contact and health info is always with me when road or trail running. This is one of the best ways to stay safe out there! Thanks to the great folks at Road ID, one lucky winner will receive any customized Road ID product of their choice!

Finally, I have really enjoyed using the Pikes Peak Sports website to share information with other folks in the Pikes Peak area, make blog posts,  participate in contests, take part in discussions, and to stay informed on local outdoor activities.  Pikes Peak Sports, and my friend Tim Bergsten, run a terrific site and Facebook page.  They have done a lot to support runs, the Incline, and other activities in the area, and I look forward to seeing them continue to grow in 2012!  So, from these terrific folks, I am happy to be able to provide the winner a Pikes Peak Sports t-shirt so they can be the cool kid on the block!

The contest starts Sunday January 1st, 2012 at 8PM MST, and runs until Sunday January 8th, 2012 at 8PM MST.

  1. I stopped consuming coffee in 2011 , I found it was contributing to dehydration . The quick jolt of caffeine induced energy has been successfully replaced by an endorphin provoking early a.m run ..my new goal for 2012 is to try at least one new health food each month, this month it's cashew butter , I love it . I believe in the blood type diet and paleo diet as fuel we put into our body translates to the energy we can count on whole we train , trail running , or road and mountain biking ..fuel is important for proper acceleration ...Jill S

  9. In 2011 I took a running biomechanic class which helped me find the stride and fluid running form I need to run effortlessly. In 2012 I am taking more fitness certification classes so that I can help others find good health and achieve their own fitness goals.
I also subscribed to your blog and liked your fb page.

  10. A healthy lifestyle change I made in 2011 was quitting playing soccer in an unhealthy league. This was great for my mental health as well as my physical health; instead of coming home injured and grumpy (after doing something that I was supposedly doing for fun!) I stayed upbeat and happy. This is great for mental health. For 2012, I plan to seek positive people to run with and interact with.

  11. After a year of struggling, I kicked off my shoes and started running barefoot in 2011. Now working to teach others how to. 2012 has me staring at a mileage goal of 1000 as well as wanting to do a half marathon. I am also finishing school up so I can get all of those fancy initials after my name so people will want to hear what I have to say about fitness and nutrition. :o) Happy New Year!

  14. For 2011, I took better care of my body while training, not pushing as hard. This kept me from injury. This year, I intend to work towards another marathon, listening even more to my bod

  29. Healthy lifestyle ?? I started using Fivefinger Shoes, it's easier to walk with your toes splayed apart, and if I'm not wearing those, I wear Sanuks (Their not Shoes, Their Sandals) light and very comfy, no bunched up toes.
I'm out every day and usually do a couple of miles in all weathers, (the joys of having a Dog).
But them I've been doing that for Years.

  41. In 2011, I've started something called Intermittent Fasting. A great and safe way to lose weight. Combined with running, I have now lost close to 35 lbs (from 184 to 150). http://www.9run.ca/2011/06/intermittent-fasting-new-way-to-lose.html

In 2012, I don;t have anything new planned but rather keep up the running and proper eating on my way to, hopefully, a BQ this October.
